Holiday Design Trends For 2021

This year, holiday design trends are veering away from the usual bright, bold, glittery décor that you might be used to. For the most part, trends for 2021 are much more toned-down and serene while still mixing in some of our sentimental favorites. If you’re hosting some of the festivities this year and need some decoration inspiration, look no further. Here are some of the most popular holiday home design trends for 2021.

Neutrals

If you’ve scrolled through Instagram lately, you’ve probably noticed that things are looking a little beige. That’s because neutrals are very on-trend this season. We are seeing pumpkins in whites and rusty oranges instead of the bright orange we are used to for Halloween and Thanksgiving décor. And the Christmas décor is following the same trend. Designers are taking your typical decorations like reindeer and Christmas trees and delivering them in muted shades of brown and green. Decorating your home with these toned-down holiday favorites will take away any stress you have about the upcoming get-togethers since they look so serene.

Natural & Organic

Similar to the neutral trend, simple, natural, and organic decorations are proving to be very big this season.

This year, skip the glitter and the tinsel. This trend is all about bringing the outdoors in with natural greenery, soft candlelight, and bare wreathes. We are even seeing succulents incorporated into the design, which is fun since they are usually thought of as more warm-weather decorations. This trend makes for a great tablescape for your Christmas dinner.

Cozy, Cool Shades

Instead of using pumpkins and poinsettias to decorate your home, you might consider making your home look like a winter wonderland. This year, we are seeing a lot of the cozy, cool shades as well, with plenty of white, and various shades of blue.

You can hang snowflake ornaments from your Christmas tree. Your dining table can have bright white place settings with a centerpiece made of pinecones and tree branches. This décor will pair well with a warm cup of hot chocolate and fire in the fireplace.

Shades Of Purple

An alternative to the natural, earthy aesthetic that is popular this year, is to try adding shades of purple to your existing decorations. Purples pairs very nicely with gold detailing and it’s a bold enough color to add some personality to your decorations. Finding plum or berry shade floral arrangements will look great around the house, as will a purple bow on your Christmas wreath. You can also switch out your usual bright red decorations with a deep raspberry to give your classic decorations an updated, classy look.

However you decide to decorate your home, make sure it reflects your personality and brings you a sense of happiness. Most importantly, enjoy this holiday season with family and friends!
